On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Senior Cost Accountant who will oversee the cost accounting functions in our manufacturing company, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of costs, inventory valuation, and cost analysis. The Senior Cost Accountant will work closely with production, operations, and finance teams to optimize cost efficiency and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide detailed analysis of manufacturing costs, including labor efficiency, material waste, and production efficiencies;
- Perform cost variance analysis, investigating and explaining discrepancies between standard and actual costs;
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities;
- Prepare and analyze cost of goods manufactured (COGM) and cost of goods sold (COGS);
- Develop and maintain accurate cost structures, standard costs, and product cost models;
- Monitor and control production costs, including direct labor, materials, and overheads;
- Support the preparation of financial statements with accurate cost data and assist in audit processes;
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, ensuring cost projections are aligned with production goals and company objectives;
- Analyze historical cost data and make recommendations for cost reduction and process improvements;
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement cost-saving initiatives and streamline manufacturing processes;
- Identify and recommend improvements in cost control procedures and internal processes to optimize financial performance;
- Oversee the valuation and reconciliation of raw materials, work in progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory;
- Collaborate with the procurement and warehouse teams to ensure accurate stock reporting and inventory management;
- Maintain and improve cost accounting systems to ensure accurate data reporting and adherence to company policies;
- Support ad-hoc financial and operational analysis to assist in management decision-making;
- Provide insight into cost impact for new product introductions or changes in production methods.
Skills & Abilities
- Proven work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant, or similar role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory control, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting;
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
Academic Qualification
- BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, preferably in the manufacturing or Import-Export sector
Experience: 5+ years of experience in related areas.
