We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architectural and Engineering Department Manager to oversee the strategic direction, operations, and development of our architecture and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, innovative, and cost-effective projects. This role requires a dynamic individual who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day operations while fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage the architectural and engineering teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, project timelines, and budget requirements;
- Develop and execute the department’s strategic plans, ensuring the team’s capabilities meet the evolving needs of the organization and industry standards;
- Oversee the successful delivery of architectural and engineering projects, from concept through to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications, timelines, and budgets;
- Work closely with other departments, including construction, project management, and procurement, to ensure seamless project execution;
- Effectively manage department resources, including staffing, budgeting, and scheduling, to optimize efficiency and productivity;
- Continuously evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of the department’s work;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, industry standards, and regulations while maintaining a focus on innovative and sustainable design solutions;
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations were met throughout the project lifecycle. Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders;
- Identify and mitigate potential risks related to project design, execution, and performance;
- Promote professional development within the department by providing training opportunities, guidance, and performance feedback to team members;
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure cost-effective use of resources without compromising the quality of work;
- Provide regular reports on department performance, project status, and resource utilization to senior management.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
Years of Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in architectural or engineering management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or department head role.
Additional Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills;
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities;
- Proficiency with architectural and engineering design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.);
- Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Financial management and budgeting experience;
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines;
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
