We are hiring a Senior Pharmacy Stock Controller who is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, ensuring proper storage conditions, and supporting the timely ordering and distribution of stock. The role plays a critical part in preventing stockouts, overstocking, and ensuring product safety and availability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, verify, and accurately record incoming pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring they match purchase orders and invoices;
- Maintain updated stock records in both manual and electronic inventory management systems;
- Conduct regular stock counts (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) and investigate any stock discrepancies;
- Ensure proper storage of all pharmaceutical products, following Good Storage Practices (GSP) and temperature control guidelines;
- Monitor and manage stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock, and proactively flag replenishment needs;
- Implement stock rotation procedures (FIFO/FEFO) to minimize wastage due to expiry;
- Track expiry dates and manage disposal of expired or damaged items according to company policies and regulatory requirements;
- Collaborate with pharmacists and procurement teams to forecast stock requirements based on consumption trends;
- Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of pharmaceutical products;
- Prepare and submit periodic inventory reports to management, including stock status, expiry reports, and variance analyses;
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation and inventory reports;
- Uphold compliance with national regulatory standards, company policies, and health and safety procedures;
- Identify process improvement opportunities in inventory management to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Job Requirements
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
Work Experience
- 6+ years of experience in pharmacy inventory management or stock control in a healthcare setting.
Additional Requirements
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical storage standards and stock handling practices;
- Experience with pharmacy management systems and ERP is highly preferred;
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision;
- Good communication and teamwork skills;
- Willingness to work in a flexible time arrangement and challenging environment;
- Fluent in English and additional language is advantageous.
