Job Summary:

We are looking for a strong candidate to fill a qualified Accounting and Reporting Manager role who is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role involves managing the preparation of financial statements, compliance with applicable accounting standards, and ensuring internal controls are in place. The Accounting and Reporting Manager also supervises accounting staff, coordinates audits, and provides actionable insights to support strategic financial decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations;
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in compliance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies;
  • Monitor and maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets;
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements to ensure accuracy;
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
  • Generate management reports, including variance analyses, key financial metrics, and forecasts;
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, including tax filings and regulatory reports;
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits, providing all necessary information and clarifications;
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth;
  • Establish clear performance expectations, provide guidance, and conduct performance reviews;
  • Promote adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and best practices;
  • Ensure all accounting and reporting processes comply with Ethiopian laws, IFRS, and internal policies;
  • Identify process bottlenecks or inefficiencies and implement improvements;
  • Provide technical guidance on complex accounting transactions and standards;
  • Assist senior management in financial planning and strategic decision-making;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Finance Manager or senior management.

 Academic qualification 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, or Business Administration (Master’s degree or professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is an advantage).

 Skills & Abilities 

  • Proven experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask;
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment;
  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, financial regulations, and IFRS;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software or ERP systems;
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail.

Years of experience: Minimum of 5 – 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
