We are seeking a detail-oriented Capability and Development Supervisor who will be responsible for identifying employee training needs, designing and implementing development programs, and coaching staff to enhance their skills and support career growth. Key responsibilities include evaluating performance, providing constructive feedback, developing and maintaining training materials, and ensuring that employees possess the skills and competencies necessary to achieve organizational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify skill gaps within the organization and assess current and future workforce needs, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals and long-term talent planning;
- Design, develop, and oversee a comprehensive training and capability development strategy plan that addresses organizational skill gaps and enhances employee competencies;
- Develop and implement frameworks that foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development, encouraging skill enhancement and knowledge sharing;
- Design and implement innovative learning and development programs, which may involve a mix of formal training, on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and digital learning solutions;
- Oversee the design, development, and regular updating of training materials, and other learning resources to ensure its comprehensiveness, and alignment with development needs;
- Identify and manage external vendors and consultants to deliver specialized training programs to address specific skill gaps, and support employee development objectives;
- Review individual employee development plans and support to help employees achieve their professional growth while aligning their goals with the organization’s strategic priorities;
- Mentor team leaders and staff to enhance their effectiveness, confidence, decision-making, and leadership capabilities, fostering a high-performing and empowered workforce;
- Provide clear, actionable, and constructive feedback that recognizes strong performance, addresses areas for improvement, and supports ongoing development;
- Ensure that all employees possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to perform their assigned roles effectively and safely;
- Assess the impact and effectiveness of training and development programs, evaluating return on investment and identifying areas for refinement to maximize learning outcomes;
- Drive continuous improvement in learning and development initiatives by gathering feedback from employees, managers, and stakeholders;
- Stay informed about industry trends and innovative approaches in capability development, cutting-edge, and relevant learning solutions.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of training design, and capability development strategies;
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills;
- Familiarity with Ethiopian labor laws and workforce regulations;
- Proficiency in MS Office and learning management systems (LMS);
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities;
- Employee development and performance management.
Work experience: 5+ years of experience in learning and development, training, or HR, with experience in supervising or mentoring staff preferred.
