Job Summary:

The Coffee Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring high-quality coffee beans from ECX and local suppliers. This role ensures a consistent supply of coffee that meets the company’s quality standards for both export and domestic markets, while optimizing costs and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate is expected to have a solid understanding of procuring, coffee varieties, and excellent negotiation skills.”

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Source and select coffee beans from different local suppliers, farmers and ECX, based on quality, price, and availability.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to secure optimal deals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with coffee growers, exporters, and supplier
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and coffee availability to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Collaborate with the quality control/coffee cupping team to ensure all purchased coffee meets quality standards.
  • Manage purchase orders, shipping schedules, and inventory levels to prevent shortages.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, import/export regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance.
  • Coordinate closely with finance and logistics teams to manage payments and deliveries efficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the department manager.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Agriculture, or related field.

Skills:

  • Proven experience in procurement, preferably in coffee or other agricultural commodities.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of coffee varieties, quality standards, and sourcing practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple suppliers and deadlines efficiently

Years of Experience:

  •  Minimum of 2 and above years’ experience in coffee procurement or purchasing.

Working Conditions: Primarily office-based, with occasional visits to suppliers, farms, or ports as required
