We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Deputy Finance Manager who supports the Management in overseeing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance with relevant laws and policies. The role involves supervising daily accounting activities, managing financial analysis, budgets, and audits, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The Deputy Finance Manager also provides technical guidance to the finance team and ensures effective internal control systems are maintained to safeguard company resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies;
- Review and analyze financial data to support management decision-making;
- Ensure the timely and accurate posting of transactions and reconciliation of accounts;
- Coordinate the preparation and monitoring of organizational budgets and forecasts;
- Prepare periodic financial performance reports and variance analyses;
- Supervise the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger;
- Oversee cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and fund disbursement;
- Ensure proper documentation, filing, and maintenance of financial records;
- Review payment requests and ensure compliance with financial policies and approval limits;
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing required data and responding to audit queries;
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and internal controls;
- Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions for efficiency and compliance;
- Supervise and mentor finance and accounting staff to build professional capacity and improve performance;
- Provide technical support to ensure staff adhere to accounting best practices and financial procedures;
- Serve as Acting Finance Manager in the absence of the department head;
- Participate in strategic planning and financial policy development;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Academic Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, or Business Administration (Master’s degree or professional certification such as ACCA, or CPA, is an added advantage).
Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures;
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, IFRS, and local financial reporting requirements;
- Proven experience in budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis;
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills;
- Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software (e.g., Peachtree, ERP, or QuickBooks);
- High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail;
- Proven ability to lead a team and keep reporting deadlines.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
