Job Summary:

We are seeking a Food Lab Technician to join our dynamic team in ensuring the safety, quality, and consistency of our food products. As a Food Lab Technician, you will conduct various tests, analysis, and quality control checks to ensure that food products meet all regulatory, safety, and quality standards. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about food science and laboratory testing who thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests on food samples to assess their composition, quality, and safety, including microbiological, chemical, and sensory analyses;
  • Analyze raw materials, in-process products, and finished food products to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory guidelines;
  • Conduct physical and chemical tests to measure the texture, moisture content, pH levels, and other key properties of food products;
  • Prepare food samples for testing, ensuring proper documentation and handling throughout the process;
  • Monitor and evaluate product quality, ensuring that food products meet established safety, taste, texture, and nutritional standards;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures to prevent defects or deviations in food products.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Keep accurate records of all tests, results, and analysis procedures, ensuring that data is properly logged and stored.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, maintaining proper safety protocols when handling chemicals and biological materials.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper disposal of chemicals, samples, and waste;
  • Provide technical assistance to the R&D team in testing new ingredients, product formulations, and processing techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports of laboratory tests, including findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
  • Review and compile data for internal and external audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for regulatory submissions and food safety certifications.

Requirements

Academic qualification 

  • A bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field. A certification in food safety or quality control is a plus.

Additional Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests and recording results.
  • Good understanding of laboratory equipment, including microscopes, spectra photometers, pH meters, and other analytical instruments.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards, such as HACCP, GMP, and ISO certifications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Years of experience:

 3+ years of proven experience especially in a food laboratory, food quality control, or related role is preferred.
