The Human Resource Officer is responsible for providing professional support in the planning, implementation, and management of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training and development, and HR policy compliance. The role requires a proactive individual who can work effectively with employees and management to ensure a productive, compliant, and motivated workforce. The successful candidate will contribute to creating a positive workplace culture that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment and selection process including job posting, screening, interviewing, and on boarding new employees;
- Maintain and update employee records (both digital and hard copy) in compliance with internal policies and labor laws;
- Administer payroll and employee benefits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness;
- Monitor employee attendance and leave management, and generate relevant reports;
- Support the implementation of performance management systems and follow up on performance evaluations;
- Coordinate and support training and development programs based on identified needs;
- Serve as a point of contact for employee queries related to HR policies, procedures, and benefits;
- Assist in employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance handling;
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, HR policies, and company procedures;
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures;
- Assist in preparing HR-related reports for management and external bodies as needed;
- Support the organization in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace;
- Perform other duties assigned and delegated by the Human Resource Manager
Requirements
Academic qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, or related field
Additional qualifications
- Good understanding of Ethiopian labor law and HR best practices;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust at all levels of the organization;
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism;
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR software/tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Amharic.
Years of experience:
- 4+ years of experience in the Human Resource Management field, preferably in the Merchandising sector is advantageous
