Job Summary:

We are seeking for a skilled and analytical Performance & Capability Development Specialist to drive a high-performance culture and build organizational capability through robust performance management and development frameworks. The Performance & Capability Development Specialist will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of performance management processes while identifying and closing skill gaps through targeted capability development programs to support business objectives and employee growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the full performance management cycle (goal setting, continuous feedback, mid-year and annual reviews, calibration, performance improvement plans);
  • Design and roll out modern performance management tools (continuous feedback platforms, 360-degree feedback, check-ins);
  • Facilitate performance calibration sessions with senior leadership to ensure fairness and consistency;
  • Identify low and high performers and coordinate Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) or accelerated development plans for high-potentials;
  • Design and implement functional and behavioral competency frameworks;
  • Develop and manage technical and soft-skills capability development programs (in-house training, e-learning, coaching, mentoring, job rotation);
  • Manage partnerships with external training providers and negotiate cost-effective solutions;
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of development initiatives;
  • Prepare performance and capability dashboards and present insights to HR Director and Executive Committee;
  • Support reward & recognition programs linked to performance outcomes;
  • Drive a continuous feedback and coaching culture across the organization;
  • Keep updated with global best practices in performance management and capability development relevant to the Ethiopian context;
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Management, or related fields.

 Required Skills:

  • Deep expertise in performance management frameworks;
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and training delivery skills;
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills (advanced Excel knowledge is a plus);
  • Familiarity with HRIS and performance management software 
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management abilities;
  • Fluency in English and Amharic (written and spoken);
  • High emotional intelligence, objectivity, and ability to handle sensitive conversations;
  • Ability to influence without authority and drive change in a fast-paced environment.

Years of experience;

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in performance management and learning & development/capability building roles.
