We are looking for an experienced, hands-on, and organized Procurement & Logistics Supervisor to oversee daily procurement and logistics operations, supervise team activities, ensure smooth execution of sourcing and distribution processes, and maintain compliance with regulations while achieving operational efficiency and cost control. The Procurement & Logistics Supervisor will lead a team in managing procurement transactions, logistics coordination, and inventory oversight, serving as a key operational link in the supply chain.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the procurement and logistics team, including task allocation, performance monitoring, and on-the-job guidance;
- Oversee the execution of procurement processes (RFQs, tenders, bid evaluations, purchase orders, and contract administration)
- Manage supplier interactions, evaluate performance, negotiate prices and terms for routine purchases, and resolve vendor issues;
- Coordinate logistics operations, including importation procedures, customs clearance, transportation arrangements, warehousing, and timely delivery of goods;
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct stock checks, and ensure accurate stock records to prevent shortages or excesses;
- Prepare and review procurement documents, logistics reports, and ensure proper filing for audit purposes;
- Enforce compliance with procurement thresholds, ethical standards, and preferential sourcing for local suppliers;
- Train and mentor junior staff on procurement procedures, logistics best practices, and regulatory requirements;
- Handle operational disputes with suppliers or transporters and escalate complex issues to management;
- Contribute to monthly/quarterly reports on procurement activities, logistics performance, cost efficiencies, and team KPIs;
- Support the development and implementation of operational improvements in procurement and logistics processes;
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Procurement & Logistics Manager or senior management.
Academic qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Management, or related fields.
Skills & Abilities
- Hands-on experience in procurement execution, logistics coordination, and team supervision;
- Proficiency in procurement software, MS Office (especially Excel), and basic inventory systems;
- Strong supervisory, organizational, and time-management skills;
- Good negotiation, problem-solving, and vendor management abilities;
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ethical conduct;
- Fluency in English and Amharic (both written and spoken), local languages are a plus;
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and lead a team in a dynamic environment;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Years of experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in procurement and logistics, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
