Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Database Administrator to oversee our organization's database systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database management, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of our data infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems to support business operations;
  • Develop and manage database schemas, tables, indexes, and views to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval;
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database usage and provide technical expertise;
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies;
  • Conduct regular performance tuning and monitoring of databases to ensure optimal performance;
  • Implement and maintain database security protocols, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations;
  • Manage user access controls and enforce authentication protocols to safeguard sensitive data;
  • Develop and manage comprehensive backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss;
  • Ensure data can be restored promptly in case of failures;
  • Work closely with IT and development teams to support data-related needs and initiatives;
  • Mentor and guide junior database administrators, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement;
  • Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and compliance status for stakeholders;
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies;

Requirements:

Academic Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
  • A Master's degree is preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in database management systems and scripting languages like SQL, PL/SQL, or T-SQL;
  • Experience with data modeling, schema design, and normalization;
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery technologies;
  • Understanding of database security and access control;
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and lead initiatives.

Work Experience: Minimum of 6 years in database administration, with a strong track record in managing complex database environments.
