Job Summary:

We are seeking for a Senior Employee Relations Officer leads and oversees the employee relations function, focusing on creating a positive and compliant work environment. Their responsibilities include resolving complex issues like grievances and disciplinary actions, developing and implementing employee relations policies, advising management on legal compliance, and collaborating on initiatives to improve employee engagement and morale.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Address and resolve employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and other complex workplace issues, acting as a mediator and coach for both employees and management;
  • Develop, review, and update employee relations policies and procedures to ensure fairness, respect, and legal compliance;
  • Provide guidance to management on compliance with labor laws by investigating work-related issues, preparing reports, and staying up to date with new legislation;
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints and compliance issues, and prepare summary reports outlining findings and recommendations;
  • Collect and analyze employee data and trends, using this information to prepare reports and recommend initiatives to improve employee relations, morale, and engagement;
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees, and managers, at all levels to foster trust, collaboration, and open communication across the organization;
  • Guide managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements to ensure consistent understanding and proper application; 
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all employees’ and related correspondence to maintaining confidentiality and transparent decision-making;
  • Support senior management and HR in the development and execution of strategic initiatives that can contribute to the company’s long-term goals;
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

 Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the Ethiopian Labor Proclamation and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in conducting investigations and managing sensitive employee issues.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to influence without authority and drive change in a fast-paced environment.

Years of experience;

  • 4 – 6 years of progressive experience in employee relations or generalist HR roles,
